Retirement Identity

Retirement identity?  So, you thought you knew who you were?  Well, the truth is you knew who you were but part of the emotional preparation behind retirement is realizing you will need to find out who you are all over, again as everything in your life becomes upheaved the minute you begin your retirement.  Well, these items, below are helping me regain my confidence and identification of self.

If retirement is about revisiting possibilities for one’s body and mind, then let me tell you, EVERYTHING I just experienced fits into this category.

To alleviate some sadness with the new school year starting without me, I purposely planned a visit mid-September to see my daughter.  Of course, it is always great to see her but I must say this trip did indeed fulfill the task of perfect distraction for me. Orangetheory Fitness

‘Toying’ Around

Toys  – 1 an object for a child to play with, typically a model or miniature replica of something: [ as modifier ] : a toy car.
• an object, especially a gadget or machine, regarded as providing amusement for an adult: in 1914 the car was still a rich man’s toy.
• a person treated by another as a source of pleasure or amusement rather than with due seriousness: a man needed a friend, an ally, not an idol or a toy.
2 [ as modifier ] denoting a diminutive breed or variety of dog: a toy poodle.

The above is the definition of toys from the New Oxford American Dictionary as seen on MacBook OS X Yosemite, version 10.4.4. This post is “toying” around with the first definition and offering some thought as I ponder the concept.

Welcome, Widget (or Tab)!

Just a short post to welcome a new tab onto my site!  I am calling it Running as I am wanting to  introduce to readers that this blog may include some upcoming posts on running or biking or some kind of outdoor play.  As time moves along, my awareness and desire for balance in life is ever-growing.   By balance I mean with my spiritual, social/emotional, mental, and physical being.  I’ve chosen a photograph to post in the widget (taken a year or so ago when hubby and I were along the Niagara River biking) to motivate my spirit and endeavor towards this matter.  The photograph might have been taken when I was recovering from a broken bone in my foot.  At any rate, as I gear up for the next phase of my life, and as I realize the importance of staying fit through the years, I know that I might want to write about these adventures, here.
