Life Past
had a traditional beat
Fall in love
followed by children, picket-fenced house
originality not needed
following societies’ time table
For me, it was quite easy
Dutiful wife, lover, best friend
of many years.
It has now been two years without.
Life Present
fumbling, unsure
many mistakes
feelings hurt, hurting feelings
Shutting down at times,
the learning curve overwhelming
living a life chosen for me
The crank shaft turns slowly
as finding
inner happiness is my motivation.
Life Future
Unknown
Planning seems remote
Roots of new relationships developing
Creative solutions and researching options
to accept alternative ideas
An untraditional beat.
Wishing for familiarity, comfort
Hoping to turn grief into gratitude
And to be steady to those I love.

Dear Holly, I can feel so many mixed feelings in this poem, a tribute to past, present and future, sadness and resilience, hope and uncertainty. It is good to see you back on your blog. Hope this creative outlet helps you, as well as all your other projects.
Always a pleasure to read your words.

Agnes, yes all of those feelings and more. Odd, when I am relaxed I can knit and write. Otherwise, not. So, when you see me, I am feeling better. I am hoping you are quite settled now after your move . . . 1 year, 2 years, ago? Time does move along.
